• MoodleMoot UK 2010 – the story so far

    Date: 2010.02.11 | Category: Uncategorized | Tags: ,,,

It was late November last year when we first heard that our proposal to host MoodleMoot UK 2010 had been approved. With our very own customer event – Moodle Wonderland – about to be held and Christmas around the corner, we knew we had our work cut out  getting everything ready in time for April.

    Pre-registration craziness

With two Future of Technology in Education (FOTE) conferences under our belt, events similar in scope and size, we got down to business, confirming venue and dates to be able to let the community know about the when and where. We decided to offer the chance to pre-register an interest in the conference to help us gauge the general interest in MoodleMoot UK and also have a list to advertise tickets to, once they become available.

We were hoping to reach at least 200-250 sign-up, based on previous MoodleMoots. Since then we have seen the number of pre-registration increase constantly. Now 2-months after opening our mailing list it stands at 400, an amazing achievement that completely took us by surprise. We will close pre-registration at 5pm on Friday, 12 February; so here’s 48h and counting for you to get your name on it. Just enter your email address on our pre-registration form and we will be in touch, simplez as the Meerkat would say.

    Speakers, workshops and presentations

We also published a call for papers a few weeks and back since then had a good number of proposals send to us. You can send us your proposals until 3pm Friday, 19 February -  the more merrier. We already have the makings of a very interesting Moot. We are also in the process of confirming keynote speakers and hope to have a more detailed outline of the day available within the next two weeks.

    Accommodation & entertainment

MoodleMoot tickets won’t include accommodation and due to the limited time frame we haven’t been able negotiate discounts. We have however published a map showing hotels local to the area and there’s a chance of College Hall availability, we are waiting to hear back from them and will share information once received.

We are also considering a few options for evening entertainment on the 13 April and we hope to make a decision sometime next week.
